London, Rabi Awwal 30/Jun 11,2002 (IINA) – The Muslim Council of Britain has expressed "deep anxiety" in the wake of a racist attack on Muslims who were carrying out their worship in a mosque in Wales, during which the mosque’s caretaker, Muhammad Aref, was killed. The incident happened during Isha prayers, and the Arabic journal ALQUDS ALARABI was prompted to comment that this latest attack affirms that escalation of Islamophobia. The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council, Iqbal Sakrane, said that the number of anti-Muslim incidents have been on the increase since the September 11 incidents in the United States.
