San Salvador,
Safar 7/Apr 20 (IINA) – Muslims in
Salvador have built an Islamic
center for the purpose of spreading
the Message of Islam to other parts
of the country, and for preserving
the Islamic identity of Muslims in
the country. It does this by
printing and publishing Islamic
literature into the local
vernaculars, but more importantly,
by using the television and radio
media for the purpose. They own 25
percent of these channels, with a
rating of 86 percent of viewers, and
therefore find it easy to spread the
word of Islam. The Islamic Center
here is also involved in defending
the name and image of Islam against
any unwarranted attacks that are
waged against it, particularly the
propaganda that Islam is a religion
of extremism and violence. Most of
the Muslim families in Salvador hail
from Spain, and some of their
forefathers must have been Muslims,
and that is why they are quite
comfortable with this religion.
